Russian Language

Russian is the official language of Russia (Russian: русский язык). In addition to Russia, it used in other nations of former Soviet Unions. During 1600’s, Russian started to appear more than before as reign of Peter the Great presented a renovated alphabet. Today, many people living in Moldova, Latvia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Lithuania, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Estonia and Belarus speak Russian. It is Slavic and belongs to “East Slavic Languages” along with two others: Ukrainian and Belarusian, yet Russian is more spoken than other two. Russian alphabet uses Cyrillic script, and it is originally derived from Greek, although their forms are different. Other East and South Slavic languages use the same script as well.
