Romanian Language

Romanian (Limba română) is principally spoken in Romania and Moldova. There are four dialects in the Romanian language: Dacoromanian which is the one spoken in Romania, Aromanian, Meglenoromanian and Istroromanian. Romanian is written in Latin alphabet and close to Spanish, Italian or English it is a Romance language. However, its grammar structure has developed much different than other Romance languages. This can be explained by close contact with Slavic languages and its position which is relatively isolated. Today, 66% of words are derived from Latin and 20% from Slavic.
