English Language

English is a part of Indo-European language family, and it is a West Germanic language. It emerged in early Medieval England. In the late 18th century, English has started to spread through British Empire colonies. Today, there are 67 regional entities where the official language is English. Some of them are United States, New Zealand, United Kingdom, Australia, Ireland, Canada and some island countries. English is mostly the first choice as a foreign language across the world, and this fact makes the English language “lingua-franca”. According to the statistics, it is the third most spoken language after Chinese and Spanish.
